“From my natural curiosity and thirst for learning was born a desire to travel, to
discover, to be stimulated by different places and realities…”

A little about me

I was born and raised in Rome where, after studying classics at high school, I graduated from University with honours in History of Art, with a specialisation in Italian art from 16th Century. From my natural curiosity and thirst for learning was born, since I was young, a desire to travel, to discover, to be stimulated by different places and realities. I have travelled in Europe, Asia and Africa, researched for my studies in Oxford and Cambridge, and been on educational trips to the United States and Malta. I then returned to Rome, enriched by these new experiences and with a new awareness that the history, art and charm of my city are my lifeblood. I have been a licenced guide for the Province of Rome, as well as for the Vatican City State, since 2008. I have been conducting guided tours for adults and educational tours for schools, in both Italian and English, for tourists from around the world and of all ages. I am able to personalise tours according to requests from my clients, it is a pleasure to stimulate interest and transmit to you my love for art and my city. I look forward to sharing with you the emotions which are created by beauty, in all it’s expressions and nuances.

My mother and I toured the Necropolis Via Triumphalis under Vatican City with Francesca. She’s amazing! So knowledgeable and upbeat. Her love for her subject matter really shined through in her description of the necropolis artifacts. I wish we hadn’t booked so many things ahead of time so we could have seen more of the city with her specifically.

My family was lucky enough to have Francesca recommended to us by a friend of mine. She was one of the best tour guides we’ve had! We had a group of 9 ranging from 4 years old to 66 years old. We did a Vatican tour and Colosseum tour, both were spectacular. Francesca is extremely knowledgable and was able to answer every question we had. Loved this experience and I could not recommend Francesca more!!!

We traveled to Rome at the request of my elderly Father in Law whose wish was to see it one more time. I received Francesca’s information from a friend who had used her and highly recommended her. We were amazed with her tours!! We chose the Colosseum with the Forum tour and another day chose the Vatican and Sistine Chapel tour. Francesca made each of these tours so personal and even made sure to accommodate my Father in Law. She paid special attention to be sure he was able to keep up, that he could hear and that he received enough breaks to keep him fresh. He did not make it to the Vatican tour with us so she adjusted this one to suit our smaller group. It’s like she could read our personalities and knew exactly what to do! We cannot thank her enough for making this trip so special. You can be sure that on our next visit she will again be chosen to show us this wonderful city!! I have also referred everyone traveling to Rome to use Francesca and we have only heard amazing things from our friends. Thank you so much!! Barbara and Tony Pellegrino

My husband and I accompanied a group of 8 American high-school students and enjoyed 4 tours with Francesca di Tommaso: the piazzas of Rome’s center; the Colosseum, Forum, and Palatine; the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica; and the Borghese Gallery. We loved every minute and learned so much. The students loved Francesca and were asking, after each tour, when we would get to see her again. She was able to adapt the tours to the needs of the group and keep the students engaged and interested. Her English is beautiful and clear and her enthusiasm is contagious. We plan on hiring her again next time we bring students to Rome.
